The Strathmore High School boys water polo team made the necessary adjustments for a much more dominant win against Bakersfield Christian this time around.

Strathmore defeated Bakersfield Christian 15-7 on Thursday at SHS to improve to 7-0 in East Sequoia League play. The Spartans beat Bakersfield Christian 16-14 in the two teams first meeting in Bakersfield.

“We fine tuned it this time,” said SHS coach Tim Stadtherr about his team making adjustments from the first meeting. “We were able to handle them easier. We were a lot more comfortable especially on offense.”

Strathmore outscored Bakersfield Christian in every quarter and led 8-4 at halftime. Lucas Wilkinson scored five goals, Owen Patterson had four goals, Cyrus Hill added three goals, Cole Davis scored twice and Gabe Bower scored once for Strathmore. Spartan goalie Max Dieterle posted nine saves.

Strathmore High School girls water polo kept their playoff hopes alive with a 10-4 victory against Bakersfield Christian in Thursday's East Sequoia League game at home.

AnnMarie Patterson had a hand in all but one of the team's goals with a team-high six assists and three goals. Faith Wynn finished with two goals and two assists, Paulina Cemo had two goals and one assist, Isabella Burrough had two goals and one assist while Kylee Blackwell also contributed a goal. Sidney Hartsell led the team with three steals while Burrough, Wynn and Cemo had two apiece.

In the cage, goalkeeper Faith Karjala had five blocks in the first half while Yazmyn Sanched had four in the second.
