Strathmore High School girls tennis defeated Orosi 6-3 at home in Tuesday's non-league match.
The Spartans led 4-2 after singles and won the match by going 2-1 in doubles.
In singles, Strathmore's No. 1 Neha Reddy won 8-4, No. 4 Abby Miller won 8-1, No. 5 Lauren Leyva won 8-5 and No. 6 Jessica Tolentino won 8-1. In doubles, Reddy and Miller won the No. 1 match 8-4 while Lena Bennett and Sara Costa won the No. 3 match 8-0.
The two matches lost in singles were close 8-6 matches.
Monache High School girls golf continued to shed strokes in Tuesday's 247-307 loss to Hanford at River Island Country Club.
For the Marauders, No. 1 Kere Martinez shot a 55, No. 2 Alondra Garcia a 60, No. 3 Adriana Castro a 63, No. 4 Sandy Ceballos a 62, No. 5 Leslie Lopez a 73 and No. 6 Paolo Lopez a 67.
“We were 313 last week at Valley Oaks (in Visalia) so our first goal of season was to get under 300,” MHS head coach Jake Winter said. “Hoping to get there before league starts next month and so far looks promising.”
Porterville High School volleyball beat Highland-Bakersfield 3-0 at home in Tuesday's non-league match. The Panthers won the sets 25-17, 25-16 and 26-24, respectively.
Monache High School volleyball lost 3-0 to Central Valley Christian at home in a non-league match. They lost the sets 25-21, 25-20 and 29-27, respectively.
For the Marauders, setter Gabriella Cox had 25 assists, six digs and two blocks while libero Kristen Watson had 14 digs and three aces. Tia Jules had eight kills and six blocks and Morgan Hunter had six kills and one dig. Hally Flynn had six digs, four kills and three blocks; Kailyn Castle nine digs, four kills and one block; and Ashlynn Baxter had 14 digs, four kills and one ace.
