The Porterville Little League 12u All-Stars took the lead late and defeated Lemoore for the California District 34 Championship title Tuesday in Visalia.
The game was tied at one with Porterville batting in the bottom of the fourth when Jacoby Roman drew a bases-loaded walk, scoring one run.
Giovanni Perez led Porterville to victory by driving in five runs. He went 2-for-3 at the plate. Perez drove in runs on a grand slam in the fourth and a walk in the fifth.
Porterville got things started in the first inning when Horacio Nunez singled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run.
In the top of the second inning, Lemoore tied things up at one with a solo homer.
Porterville notched five runs in the fifth inning. Porterville's big bats in the inning were led by singles by Xaiver Aguilera, Aeden Dowdy, Jose Perez and Louie Torres. They also had a walk by Giovanni Perez.
Torres led things off on the mound for Porterville. He surrendered one run on three hits over five innings, striking out six.
Lemoore's pitcher allowed five hits and five runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out four. They also had one relief pitcher.
Giovanni's grand slam in the fourth was the team's only home run.
Porterville had 11 hits in the game. Giovanni, Jose, and Boden Watts each managed multiple hits for Porterville. Watts, Jose Perez, and Giovanni Perez each managed two hits to lead Porterville.
Lemoore didn't commit a single error in the field.
Playing for the 12u were Colton Isom, Evan Flowers, Aeden Dowdy, Louie Torres, Wyatt Mauldin, Dominic Perez, Haracio Nunez,Boden Watts, Thomas Presley, Francisco Aguilera, Giovanni Perez, Jacoby Roman and Jose Perez.
