The Porterville High and Strathmore High girls basketball teams will have to go on the road for the first round of the Southern California Regional Championships in the State Tournament.

Despite winning the Central Section Division III title in a 65-39 rout of Arvin on Friday at Selland Arena, PHS (31-2) received just a No. 11 seed in the SoCal Division III playoffs. Porterville will travel to Rialto to face 26-5 Eisenhower, the No 6 seed, in a first round game at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Eisenhower was the Southern Section Division III runner-up after losing to Woodrow Wilson 66-62 in the championship game.

Strathmore (28-5) received a tough draw in the tournament as it was seeded No. 15 out of 16 teams in the Division V SoCal Region. The Spartans will open at 24-4 Marshall, the No. 2 seed, at 7 p.m. Tuesday in Pasadena.

Marshall lost to Paramount 52-45 in the Southern Section Division IV semifinals. The Spartans advanced to the Central Section Division V finals where it lost to East Bakersfield 43-39 on Friday at Selland Arena. East was seeded No. 4 in the SoCal Division V region.
