ZEBULON, N.C. (AP) -- Mitch Roman doubled and singled twice, and Jorgan Cavanerio allowed just one hit over five innings as the Winston-Salem Dash defeated the Carolina Mudcats 4-2 on Wednesday.

Cavanerio (8-2) picked up the win after he struck out four and walked one while allowing one run.

Winston-Salem got on the board first in the third inning when Andrew Vaughn hit a two-run double.

After Winston-Salem added a run in the fourth when Roman scored on an error, the Mudcats cut into the deficit in the fourth inning when Wes Rogers scored on an error.

The Dash tacked on another run in the fifth when Yeyson Yrizarri drew a bases-loaded walk, scoring Jameson Fisher.

Carolina saw its comeback attempt come up short after Payton Henry hit an RBI single, bringing home Nathan Rodriguez in the seventh inning to cut the Winston-Salem lead to 4-2.

Christian Taugner (5-8) went 4 2/3 innings, allowing four runs and seven hits in the Carolina League game. He also struck out four and walked three.

Winston-Salem improved to 9-4 against Carolina this season.
