“It was a great day, PHS head coach Juan Jimenez said. “We haven't had one of those in a while. I think we had one last year. But yeah, outstanding work by everybody. Girls did a really good job. Mission Oak was definitely ready to run. There (were) a few kids in there that weren't at the previous tournaments that kind of surprised us a little bit but the girls handled it really well. It was the first mile, they came out really aggressive, and to their credit, the girls stuck to our game plan. And by about the third mile and a half or so, they sorted out themselves and were able to win the race pretty comfortably.”
The frosh-soph girls also won 20-35 with Princesa Corrales (16:32) edging teammate Esmeralda Palafox (16:33) out by a second for first place in the 2-mile race.
The frosh-soph boys won 16-31 with Dominic Welsh winning in 12:26.
