PHS wins mini EYL tourney
Porterville High School boys golf beat out Tulare Union 471-476 to win their second of three East Yosemite League 18-hole mini tournaments Wednesday at the Tulare Golf Course.
For the Panthers, Parker Jones shot an 86, Ethan Standridge an 88, Tyler Jones a 99, Adam Daguman a 107, Jayden Gammon a 94 and Tony Fusco a 104.
“Going into today Porterville was tied with Tulare Union for the first half of our season,” PHS head coach David Herrera said. “It was a great win today with my athletes stepping up and playing outstanding on the road in Tulare. Parker and Ethan has a great day shooting in the 80s, their swing is smooth and precise. Jayden has become our secret weapon. He has snuck up on the other teams who can’t keep up with him shooting in the low to mid 90s. It was also a great day for Tony who came in at the end to help secure us our win today.”
Porterville’s final EYL mini tournament is next Thursday, at River Island Country Club.
