Lindsay High School boys soccer defeated crosstown rival Strathmore 4-2 in Tuesday’s East Sequoia League game at Spartan Stadium. It was the Cardinals first ESL win at Spartan Stadium since the 2015-16 season.
Ulysses Lopez led Lindsay (9-6-3, 3-2 ESL) in scoring with two goals while Emiliano Corona and Moises Betancourt each scored a goal.
Jose Peña and Enrique Gomez had a goal apiece for Strathmore (3-5-1, 1-2 ESL). The Spartans played with 10 players for nearly the entire game after one of their players received a red card in the first 15 minutes of the game.
Lindsay’s Karyssa Perez scored the game-winning goal in the Cardinals’ 1-0 win over crosstown rival Strathmore in Tuesday’s East Sequoia League girls soccer game at Frank Skadan Stadium.
The win keeps Lindsay (9-5-3, 5-1 ESL) firmly in second in the ESL standings.

Porterville College men’s basketball defeated West Hills Coalinga 67-65 in Monday’s Central Valley Conference game on the road.
Sophomore Elijah Cardenas led the Pirates with 20 points, sophomores Darion “DJ” Wilson and Da’Morea Green had 12 points apiece while freshman Dominic King put up 11.
PC head coach Rob Haynes called it a “big bounce-back win” for the team. Porterville (8-7, 3-1 CVC) had their worst loss of the season, 94-66, Saturday against the 11th-ranked College of the Sequoias (10-7, 3-2 CVC). The loss also ended a three-game winning streak by the Pirates.
Porterville is now third in conference standings and play at home tonight against Cerro Coso (7-9, 1-4 CVC).
