Porterville boys cross country

Porterville High School's boys cross country team is ranked first in Division IV in the Week 3 Central Section rankings.

Monache girls move to fourth in Div. I

Seth Ishida said last week's Randy Quiram Invitational would have "big implications in the Valley rankings” and the Monache High School head coach's prediction proved true.

After taking second in the cross country invitational hosted by the Marauders at Bartlett Park, Porterville's boys team is now ranked first in Division IV in the Central Section week three rankings. They were previously ranked fifth. In second behind the Panthers is former No. 1 Hanford West and East Bakersfield, respectively.

The Marauders boys team won the invitational with 29 points and went from being unranked in Div. I to eighth place. They also moved from 25th in the overall Valley rankings to 14th.

Lindsay placed ninth at the meet and is now ranked 10th in Div. III. The Cardinals were previously unranked.

Granite Hills didn't compete in the meet but remain fourth in Div. V.

GIRLS

The back-to-back Quiram Invitational champion girls team of Monache also saw their ranking go up. The Marauders are now ranked fourth after spending a week at sixth. In the overall Valley rankings, Monache moved from 13th to eighth place.

Lindsay girls placed fifth at the invitational, but dropped from third in Div. III to seventh. The Cardinals also saw their overall standing fall from 20th to 25th. The No. 1 girls team in Div. III is Corcoran, who Lindsay host today in the first East Sequoia League meet of the season.

The only other ranked local team is Granite Hills, who is still ranked sixth in Div. V and will also be at the ESL meet.
