“Take pride in how far you’ve come, have faith in how far you can go, but don’t forget the journey,” was the motto of the day for over 440 seniors graduating from Porterville High School Thursday at Jacob Rankin Stadium.

A carpet of orange and green caps and gowns covered half the stadium field as seniors gathered — walking single file or by two under flower arches held by the Porterville High Auxiliary women in summer gowns.

One-act plays tell a story just like a regular play, but they take less time! That’s why the PHS Drama Department can offer five plays in the same evening as they present 'A Night of One Acts' on Friday, May 24 and Saturday, May 25.

The performances will take place starting at 7 p.m. in the Drama Room (A-7) on the PHS campus. Ticket prices are $3 for adults and $1 for students/children.

Student entries for Vans shoe design competition advance to final 50

The Porterville High School art department is in the midst of a competition that could win them $75,000 to put toward the school’s art program, but they need all the votes they can get to push them to the top.

The Vans Custom Culture High School Shoe Customization contest opened their registration in January and selected 500 schools from those applications. Of those 500 schools, the competition was narrowed down to 50 schools. Among those chosen 50 sits PHS.

The improv artists of the Porterville High School Drama Department will perform one last time this school year as they present a Night of Improvs on the PHS campus this Fri., April 12 at 7 p.m.  This single performance will take place on the stage of the Drama Room (A-7) on the campus of Porterville High School at 465 West Olive Avenue in Porterville (located right next to the Porterville Memorial Auditorium).  Admission price is $1.00 per person, and allows the ticket-holder to witness the mad cap antics of some of PHS’s finest improv artists as they compete for the comedy crown.
