Porterville crushes Monache's playoff hopes

Go ahead and paint the town orange and green because Porterville High School dominated the 51st annual Granite Bowl with a 61-6 demolishing of rival Monache.

From the first kickoff at Jacob Rankin Stadium to the last play of the game, the Panthers (6-4, 3-2 EYL) owned the Granite Bowl.

In the first half alone, Porterville scored seven touchdowns on a total of eight drives while giving up just one touchdown to the Marauders' Marcus Salazar in the first quarter.

Monache High School’s chance at a trip back to the Central Section Division IV playoffs took a blow Thursday with a 22-15 loss to Mission Oak at Jacob Rankin Stadium

The Marauders (1-6, 0-2EYL) began the East Yosemite League game without nine starters but led at at halftime with a small 9-0 lead. A 38-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Sullivan Focke to TrayVon Bradford on the first drive of the game put the team on the board quickly.
