Porterville High School boys and girls swim improved to an 8-0 perfect record with an East Yosemite League win over Tulare Union at home on Wednesday. The girls won the meet 121-49, while the boys won 126-59. The Panthers are now 3-0 in league.

Porterville girls swept the relay events. Ahna Davis, Adelyne Merritt, Mary Catherine Strizic, and Maycee Hyder won the 200-yard medley relay in 2 minutes, 7.23 seconds. Davis, Merritt, Hyder, and Claire Lee won the 200 free (1:50.54). Strizic, Alondra Arroyo Rico, Karlie Wanmer, and Lee won the 400 free (4:09.76).

Individually, Merritt won both the 100 free (1:02.18) and 100 breaststroke (1:21.38). Wanmer won the 200 free (2:21.57), Strizic the 200 individual medley (2:36.82), Lee the 500 free (5:50.79), and Davis the 100 backstroke (1:12.31).

Porterville High School boys basketball started the East Yosemite League season with two wins against Mission Oak. The Panthers won Friday’s game 68-31 and Saturday’s 67-37.

In the second game, Garin Wallace led the team with 18 points. Adam Daguman had 15 and Matthew Rivera had 10.

Lindsay High School football opened the season with a 19-12 win over Woodlake in a road game Friday.

Quarterback Randon Gomez threw two touchdowns to receiver Richard Diaz. Diaz finished with two receptions and 34 yards. Matthew Morales was the team's leading rusher with 55 yards on 10 carries and one touchdown. Gomez also had 22 yards on eight carries.

On defense, Diaz and Diego Salsas had two interceptions apiece while Francisco Lucio had seven. Salvador Perez, who was 1-for-2 on PATs, led the team in tackles with 12. Jonathan Garza and Elian Ibarra had 10 apiece.

Lindsay hosts Corcoran at 6 p.m. on Thursday for the Cardinals next game.

Porterville High School boys and girls swim won their East Yosemite League opener against Mission Oak Tuesday at Tulare Western High School.

In final scores, the Panthers boys won 129-36 and the girls won 142-27. Porterville won every event except boys diving. 

In team events for the boys, Garrett Lamb, Xavier Gutierrez, Diego Gutierrez and Trevor Riley won the 200-yard medley relay in a time of 1 minute, 51.75 seconds. Riley, Diego Gutierrez, Levi Davis and Ryan Davis won the 200 freestyle relay in 1:58.04. Lamb, Ryan Davis, Levi Davis and Isaac Gutierrez won the 400 free in 4:09.
