Early Sunday morning Porterville Police Officers responded to the area of Main Street and Henderson Avenue after they received a signal from Lo-Jack tracking device a previously reported stolen vehicle was traveling in the area.
The incident happended at about 2:20 a.m. Sunday. Moments after officers responded the stolen vehicle was observed traveling at a high rate of speed westbound on Westfield Avenue from Main Street. When Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop on the vehicle, the vehicle collided with a wooden fence in the 500 block of West Westfield Avenue.
Three occupants ran from the vehicle and one of the suspects, a 14 year old male juvenile, was apprehended nearby. The area was checked for the other two suspects and they weren't located. There were no injuries as a result of the collision.
The male juvenile was ultimately arrested for being in possession of a stolen vehicle, hit and run traffic collision, resisting arrest and for an outstanding felony warrant for auto theft. He was booked at the Tulare County Juvenile Detention Facility and is being held without bail.
