On November 13, at about 7:44 p.m., Porterville Police and Fire Personnel responded to the area of Locust Avenue and Hockett Street regarding a vehicle versus pedestrian traffic collision. When officers arrived, they found an adult male pedestrian that had been struck by a 2009 GMC Sierra resulting in fatal injuries to the pedestrian.
Preliminary investigation revealed the female driver of the GMC was traveling westbound on Locust Avenue when she turned northbound onto Hockett Street, striking the pedestrian who appeared to have been crossing the roadway. The female driver was not injured and is cooperating with the investigation. Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor at this time however the investigation is ongoing. The victim’s identify is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.
