Plano and Morton house fire

A city firefighter makes sure that the fire is out in the home Tuesday, at the corner of Morton Avenue and Plano Street.

Damage limited by quick response

Fire damaged a house on the corner of Plano Street and Morton Avenue in Porterville Tuesday. A quick response by firefighters kept the damage from being worse.

The call came in that smoke was visible from an upstairs balcony of the house at approximately 1 p.m.

Porterville firefighters were summoned, along with one engine from Tulare County.

According to a neighbor, the owners of the home live “somewhere down south.” The home, once owned by Howard Smith, was being renovated.

Firefighters quickly extinguished the fire. Smoke and fire damage was visible on the upstairs balcony.
