On November 1, at approximately 3:23 a.m., Officers with the Porterville Police Department conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle in the area of Highway 65 and North Grand Avenue in Porterville.

During the traffic stop, Officers contacted the driver, Elijio Ceballos. A search of Ceballos’ person was conducted and he was found to be in possession of live ammunition. Further investigation revealed a loaded firearm on the side of the driver’s seat and a body armor vest. Ceballos was also discovered to be in possession of a usable amount of methamphetamine, narcotic paraphernalia, and vehicle theft tools. 

Ceballos was determined to be driving under the influence of a controlled substance. A records check revealed the firearm to be stolen. The records check also revealed Ceballos to be a previously convicted felon, which prohibits him from possessing firearms or ammunition.

Ceballos was ultimately arrested and booked into the Tulare County Jail and is being held in lieu of $50,000.00 bail.
