On July 29, criminal investigators from the District Attorney’s Bureau of Investigations Child Abduction Unit traveled to Garden City, Idaho, to recover three children taken by their mother, Jayde Skye Burgoyne, against a court order. The investigators traveled with the children back to Tulare County and reunited them with their appointed guardian.
In May 2019, Burgoyne abruptly left the state with all three children, ages 1, 2, and 3. After several unsuccessful attempts to locate Burgoyne and the children by the guardian, assistance was sought from the TCDA Child Abduction Unit.
After several weeks of investigation, with the assistance of the Garden City Police Department in Idaho, Burgoyne and all three children were located. TCDA Investigators and Garden City Police contacted her and found her and the children living in a tool shed with no running water. The conditions of their living situation were so extreme that Burgoyne is currently under investigation by the Garden City Police Department for child endangerment. TCDA investigators flew back to Tulare County that same day with the children to return them to their guardian.
The Child Abduction Unit regularly returns abducted children to their legal guardians. TCDA Investigators have recovered abducted children from across the United States and Mexico and as far away as New Zealand.
