It’s been a while since the area has had a major storm but the forecast calls for Porterville to receive a significant amount of rain on Thursday.
Today will be the calm before the storm as the National Weather Service forecast calls for conditions to be sunny with a high of 57 and a low of 39. But that should change on Thursday as there’s an 80 percent chance of rain beginning after 10 a.m.
The forecast calls for Porterville to receive a quarter to a half inch of rain. The storm with taper off by Thursday night with Porterville forecast to receive more rainfall but less than a tenth of an inch.
By Friday it will be sunny again with a high of 52 and a low of 38.
Up to two feet of snow could fall in the mountains during Thursday’s storm. A winter storm watch will be in effect in Camp Nelson on Thursday and Thursday night with heavy snow in the forecast.
Camp Nelson could receive up to a foot of snow on Thursday and receive another 2 to 4 inches of snow on Thursday night.
