The public comment period for the revised draft environmental impact statement and revised draft land management plan for the Sequoia National Forest ends September 26. Input from the community will help to develop the final environmental impact statement and final plan that will guide management of the Sequoia National Forest for the next 15 years.
The documents are available on the project website at: https://tinyurl.com/USFS-r5planrevision.
The Forest Service is interested in hearing feedback on these documents and answering any questions the public may have.
The revised draft documents became available for a 90-day public comment period on June 28, the date the Environmental Protection Agency published the Notice of Availability in the Federal Register.
The Sequoia and Sierra National Forests hosted a public webinar on July 10. A recording of the webinar is available for viewing on line and can be found on the project website.
The Sequoia and Sierra plan revision effort is subject to the objection procedures described in the 2012 Planning Rule (36 CFR 219 Subpart B) before the final plans may be approved. Individuals and entities may only file an objection if they have submitted relevant substantive formal comments specific to this planning effort during public comment opportunities, such as the current 90-day public comment period.
