Dr. Don Stover and Susan Uptain accepted a check for $2000 on behalf of the Porterville Historical Museum from Bank of the Sierra Market President Janice Castle on Wednesday, August 7.
“The Bank of the Sierra has graciously given us the $2000 grant towards the installation of the 1918 Smith‘s Market Truck exhibit,” said Uptain and Stover. “We thank them for all the things they do for the community. The money will partially fund the restoration and improvements and upgrades to the shed that houses the fire engines, tractor, ice wagon. Now it will also house the grocery store delivery truck.”
Uptain extended a very big thank you to Bank of the Sierra for their generosity, as it will definitely help the museum add the additional piece of history to their collection.
“We want to say thank you to Bank of Sierra for all their help with this extensive endeavor,” Uptain said.
Bank of the Sierra’s president was excited to present the check to the museum.
“It is an honor and a privilege to be able to assist with the restoration,” said Castle. “Smith’s Grocery Truck is a part of Porterville’s history and we are very proud of what the Porterville Historical Museum is achieving.”
