The Porterville Recorder is looking for sponsors so it can continue its Newspapers in Education program.
NIE is a joint effort between the Recorder and area schools to promote the use of the Recorder newspaper through the NIE program as an educational resource in the classroom. The program helps teachers bring real world application to the subjects they teach.
Area business, civic organizations and private donars are asked to provide sponsorships for the NIE program. The 2019-2020 school year is in sessions and the Recorder is looking to reach more students with the NIE program.
The NIE program was successful in 2018-2019 and the Recorder is looking to provide the program in more classrooms and schools this year. The Recorder has always kept this program free to educators — all who have to stretch their budgets thin. The Recorder covers the majority of the cost NIE, but it still relies on partnerships with area businesses and community leaders for assistance.
Along with the tax deductible contribution, sponsors receive public recognition in the Recorder, community and schools.
Those who wish to become a sponsor can contact the Recorder, 784-5000.
