Bradley Collins, 52, an instructor at Porterville High School (PHS), was arrested on Tuesday for felony charges of unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor.
According to a press release from the Porterville Police Department, on July 10, a citizen reported suspicious activity that suggested an inappropriate relationship was possibly taking place between a teacher at PHS and a former high school student.
Detectives determined that Collins and one of his underage female students had been in an relationship beginning in October 2013 and past her graduation in 2014.
The relationship, which continued for more than one year, included sexual intercourse when the victim was under the age of 18, according to the press release.
Collins was booked at the Tulare County Sheriff’s Department and is being held in lieu of $200,000 bail.
“We are aware of the situation and are cooperating fully with the investigation by the Porterville Police Department,” said Jason Pommier, public information officer for Porterville Unified School District.
