Porterville High School math teacher Bill Johnson died on Tuesday. He was 61.

Johnson was in his 37th year of teaching and had taught in the Porterville Unified School District for 35 years. He was the math department co-chair at PHS.

PUSD stated Johnson impacted the lives of many students throughout is educational career. The district went on to state:

“Mr. Johnson was a leader on campus and highly-respected by his colleagues. His dedication to his profession and students was a true example for all to admire. His presence will be greatly missed.

“On behalf of the entire PUSD community, we would like to extend our deepest condolences to the Johnson family. Please join us in keeping Bill’s family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.”

The funeral for Mr. Johnson will be held Saturday, December 7 at Porterville Church of the Nazarene, beginning at 11 a.m. and is open to the public. A public viewing for Mr. Johnson will takce place from 2 to 8 p.m. Today at the Porterville Funeral and Cremation Center, 765 W. Henderson.
