Anime and comic fans in the Porterville area will have a golden opportunity to let their inner hero (or villian) break free Saturday when Ohana Comic Con hosts the Toy - Anime - Comic Con from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Porterville Veterans Memorial Building at 1900 W. Olive Avenue.

Feedback on Ohana Comic Con's social media indicates more than 200 people are planning on attending the event and hundreds more are interested.

Admission is $6, and those in possession of a flyer or coupon for the event get in for $5, and kids age 12 and under are free. Parking is free and cameras are welcome.

All veterans and current military will get in free courtesy of the Veterans Hall, and special needs families will get in 15 minutes early courtesy of the Kiwanis Club of Porterville.

The highlight of the family-friendly convention will be the cosplay contest at 2:30 p.m., where nine gift certificates will be given to the winners to be spent with the convention’s vendors, who will be offering various hand-made crafts, toys, comics, cards, slime, pop culture items and other unique items for Christmas gift ideas or for everyday enjoyment.
