Porterville Sears store set to close

The Sears Hometown appliance store, located at 580 South Jaye, has serviced the community’s needs for every appliance from tools to refrigerators and ovens. Nearly 10 years later, the store is in the midst of its final sale, a liquidation sale, to empty the building of all the appliances and tools.

The hometown store has been a standing go-to for many Porterville residents who were seeking new appliances for their homes.

In 2015, the store went through a total makeover in order to address the ever changing consumer needs. The appliance selection grew, and new products from brands such as Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, Samsung and Kenmore were added to help reach consumers of every need. The Sears Hometown store also updated their storefront with new fixtures and signage, and over half of the sales floor was taken over with an abundance of appliance choices.

The store implemented a touch-screen kiosk for easier navigation through their selection of products, and trained their employees in featured brand specific selling certifications.

In recent years however, many Sears stores across the country have closed shop, and unfortunately, the Porterville store is next to shut its doors.

It’s well known the local Sears store is the one-stop-shop for kitchen and home appliances, as well as being reliable to consumers who are looking to find any tool that may be needed. And right now is the chance to stock up on tools or totally revamp the kitchen.

In lieu of its closing, the local Porterville Sears Hometown store is holding a liquidation sale, and is offering consumers up to 70 percent off of their purchases, with some exclusions. Everything must go.

No hard date has been released as to when the doors will shut for the last time, however it’s speculated the store will be closing by the end of this month.
