At the Porterville Unified School board meeting on August 8 Harmony Magnet Academy sophomore Alex Ramos was recognized for his help over the summer in Terra Bella as an intern.
Steve McCracken, Special Services, of Terra Bella Elementary School was mentor of the program that brings interns to help in community projects. Cindy Brown, director of Pathways, and Ruben Alvarez, work based coordinator of Pathways put McCracken and his intern together. In the fall, Pathways is going to expand its help to Terra Bella with more interns to help the community’s reach to those in need. The garden is flourishing. McCracken challenged the Porterville Unified Board to consider gardens in schools and offered to share his expertise and partnerships with local businesses.
