Woman arrested for driving under the influence with child as passenger
A driver was arrested for driving under the influence after a crash in Porterville on Wednesday.
Samantha Needham was arrested and transported to the Tulare County Sheriff's Department where she was booked in lieu of $100,000 bail.
Shortly before 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, Porterville Police
responded to the intersection of Morton Avenue and Second Street to a minor injury traffic collision. Investigation revealed one driver was traveling southbound on Second Street and stopped for the red light at Morton Avenue.
As the driver proceeded through a green light she was struck by Needham, who was traveling eastbound on Morton Avenue, Porterville Police stated.
A 3 year old girl inside Needham’s vehicle suffered minor injuries from the collision and was transported to a local hospital for treatment and later released. The other driver wasn't injured.
During the investigation Needham was determined to be intoxicated and was arrested. Needham’s blood alcohol content was determined to be .09 percent.
