At a small campus like Alta Vista Elementary School, Vanessa Reilly realizes teachers have to wear many hats.

For all the hats she wears and all that she does for the school and the school’s community, Reilly has been honored as KSEE Channel 24’s Educator of the Week.

Reilly will be featured on Channel 24’s news broadcasts throughout the day on Christmas Day. She will be featured during the Sunrise News which airs from 5 to 7 a.m., on the midday news which airs from 11 a.m. to noon, on the early evening news which airs from 5:30 to 6 p.m. and on the evening news which airs from 6:30 to 7 p.m.

Reilly has been teaching at Alta Vista for 21 years. She’s a language arts and college pathway teacher at the school and is also the academic coach for grades six to eight.

She’s also the activities director, meaning she’s in charge of all the activities that happen in the school as well as the activities that involve the school’s community. In addition she’s the coach for all of the school’s varsity girls sports.

“I don’t do it alone,” Reilly said. “I have a good corp of teachers who jump into action when I need it. On a small campus like this one, one wears many hats and I’m not the only one who does.”

KSEE Channel 24’s feature of Reilly will also eventually be featured on all of its social media.
