PIXLEY — The passenger who died Nov. 1 in a single-car collision on Avenue 96 east of Road 96, has been identified as Hugo Nicolas Cabrera-Esparza, 28, the Tulare County Coroner reported Monday.

Cabrera died from blunt-force trauma after the driver of the car he was in allowed the car to drift into an almond orchard, striking five trees, before coming to a stop. Authorities determined that following the collision the driver placed Cabrera’s body on the driver’s seat and then fled the scene.
