Buck Shaffer was a man of music, integrity, inspiration, patriotism and discipline! I had the honor of being a majorette with the Porterville Panther Marching Band under the direction of Buck for four years and also sang with the Buck Shaffer Studio Band. Every time I saw Buck he replied “It’s great to see you, Little Gal.” I can still hear his voice on the football field, I can still see him in his pink convertible, I can hear him playing his saxophone, I can still hear him speaking, bragging about his sons Skip and Billy, I can hear him talking about his family and stepchildren. I will cherish the recommendation letter that Buck wrote on my behalf which opened doors for my singing career. When I think of professional musicians with integrity, giving back to their community, discipline, etc., only one person comes to mind: BUCK SHAFFER! I look forward to hearing Buck’s band in heaven.
