THE PORTERVILLE RECORDER

The 53-year-old Porterville man who died in a motorcycle accident on New Year’s day is Anthony “Tony” Lee Rowlett.

Mr. Rowlett was a native of Porterville who worked as an electronics technician at Beckman Industries. Employees there shut the plant down for a “moment of silence” for him on Monday, a family friend reported.

Services for him will be held Friday at Zion Lutheran Church in Terra Bella.

His name was previously withheld pending notification of his family.

At about 3:35 p.m. Friday, Rowlett was driving east on Reservation Road, west of Road 296, when the road curved to the right and he lost control of the Honda 1000 model dirt bike. It overturned as it traveled across oncoming traffic, and off the north shoulder of the highway, according to a report from the California Highway Patrol.

He was ejected off the motorcycle and sustained fatal injuries.

Contact The Recorder newsroom at 784-5000, Ext. 1050.
