THE PORTERVILLE RECORDER

WOODVILLE—A collision Tuesday morning at the intersection of Avenue 166 and Woodville Road hospitalized a 17-year-old who is in serious condition at Community Regional Medical Center in Fresno.

David Lee McGuire was driving east on Avenue 166, when he entered a T-style intersection at Woodville Road, also referred to as Road 168, and he crashed into a 2008 Toyota Tacoma that was headed northbound on the intersecting road.

The front of the Tacoma, driven by Molses Sema, struck the right side of McGuire’s Mazda van.

“McGuire was traveling at a high rate of speed as he approached the intersection and allowed his vehicle to enter the intersection directly in the path of Sema’s vehicle,” a report from California Highway Patrol states.

The force of the collision caused the van to veer to the north, where it struck a power pole, causing the pole to split.
McGuire sustained major injuries and was air lifted from the scene to Fresno.

Brian Uphman, a passenger in McGuire’s vehicle, and Sema were taken to Tulare District Hospital for treatment to minor and moderate injuries, respectively. They have both been released.
