WOODVILLE — Authorities are investigating a pair of break-ins reported Tuesday at public buildings located in close proximity to one another.

A would-be burglar was thwarted in his efforts this week and failed to break into a public office.

Tulare County sheriff’s deputies responded at 8:35 a.m. Tuesday to the 16000 block of Road 168 near Woodville to investigate a reported attempted burglary.

Someone tried to break into the Lower Tule River Irrigation District office, but was not successful. A sea train was entered, however nothing was missing.

Damage was estimated at $205.

Meanwhile a thief broke into a South County school and walked off with a couple of pieces of equipment.

Sheriff’s deputies responded at 9:50 a.m. Tuesday to Woodville Elementary School on the 16000 block of Road 168 to investigate a reported burglary.

Someone forced their way into a sea train at the school and stole an air compressor and a car battery charger, the Sheriff’s Department reports.

The loss was estimated at $280.
