Crime blotter 1/17/13
Information below is provided to The Recorder by the Porterville Police Department. It is noted that only arrests are reported and the suspects have not been found guilty of any crime.

Vandalism / Public
Intoxication
Officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of South H Street regarding an unwanted subject who started breaking windows at the residence. George Barajas, 35, was contacted and was drunk and belligerent. Barajas had broken two windows and a lamp outside of the residence. Barajas was arrested for vandalism and public intoxication and subsequently booked into TCSO jail.
Traffic Unit:
The traffic unit conducted extra patrol in the areas of Belleview Elementary, Bartlett Middle, Sequoia Middle and Porterville High Schools today. Traffic officers were on foot in the area of Porterville High School when school let out focusing on pedestrian violations. Extra enforcement efforts were also made in the areas of Henderson at Jaye and Pioneer at Highway 65.
Warrant Arrest
Officers contacted Raul Corona Ruiz, 34, during a traffic stop at Success Avenue and Leggett Street. Ruiz had a warrant for his arrest. He was booked at PPD and later released on a cite to appear.
Warrant Arrest
Officers attempted to contact Juan Rivera, 28, at Prospect Street and Tomah Avenue. Rivera ran from the officers and a perimeter was established with assisting units. A K-9 was utilized for the search and Rivera was subsequently located by hiding underneath a vehicle in the 1100 block of West Tomah Avenue. He was taken into custody without incident and determined to have four warrants for his arrest. He was booked at TCSO for housing.
Warrant Arrest
Officers contacted Kathleen Canuteson, 50, at Putnam Street and Prospect Avenue during a traffic stop. She had warrant for her arrest and was later transported to Bob Wiley where she was housed.
