Officers responded to the Mecca Bar regarding subjects causing a disturbance. Officers contacted several subjects inside and the bartender requested the subjects be counseled only. Officers later observed one of the subjects, Alfonso Pena, 22, driving from the bar with no headlights on. Once Pena noticed Officer Coggins, he pulled into a parking lot and walked away from his vehicle as the officer initiated a traffic stop. The officer attempted to contact him; however, he did not comply and continued to walk away from her. He was subsequently taken into custody after a short struggle and was determined to be DUI. During the struggle, Miguel Gallegos, 25, (who was with Pena earlier) walked out of the bar with an open container. Officers attempted to contact him; however, he did not comply and attempted to walk back into the Mecca. Officers went to detain Gallegos; however, he resisted arrest. Gallegos was taken into custody for resisting arrest and public intoxication. Two other associates, Jose Arroyo, 24, and Daniel Martinez, 21, were contacted inside the bar. Arroyo had an active warrant for his arrest and was taken into custody. Martinez was in possession of methamphetamine and on active CDC parole. All four subjects were transported to TCSO where they were booked and housed on their individual charges.
