VISALIA — A Visalia man was sentenced Wednesday to 38 years to life in state prison for molesting two young girl between 1997 and 2004.

Frank Espinosa Ramirez, 47, was convicted by a jury of 10 counts of lewd and lascivious acts with children under the age of 14. The jury also found that seven of the felony counts involved substantial sexual conduct.

One of the victims was 8 years old when Ramirez fondled her in a swimming pool, the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office reports. The other girl was fondled repeatedly while in elementary school during a number of sleep-overs where the girl and her sister were visiting the Ramirez’s wife.

Due to the nature of the crimes, Ramirez will not be eligible for parole until he has served 38 years in prison.

He must register as a sex offender, submit to AIDS testing, provide DNA samples to authorities and pay a $10,000 restitution fine.

Sentencing was imposed by Tulare County Superior Court Judge Kathryn Montejano.
