Crime Blotter 01/22/13

Information below is provided to The Recorder by the Porterville Police Department. It is noted that only arrests are reported and the suspects have not been found guilty of any crime.

Tuesday, Jan. 22, 2013
Burglary
Officers were dispatched to a storage facility in the 900 block of West North Grand Avenue regarding a burglary. The victim stated subject(s) made entry into his storage locker. The victim stated that he noticed the key to his locker was missing. Once inside, the subject(s) took miscellaneous tools, a chess set, a pump-action pellet gun, and a Samsung television.

Warrant arrest / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Officers contacted Ethel Scott, 35, in the area of Vine Avenue and Hockett Street. During the contact, Scott was found to have two felony warrants. Scott was also found to have numerous hypodermic needles in her possession, which were used by her to inject methamphetamine. Scott was arrested and transported to the Bob Wiley Detention Facility.

Burglary
Officers were dispatched to the 700 block of South Ruth Street regarding a burglary. The victim stated subject(s) forced entry into her residence. Entry was made through a sliding glass window by smashing the window. Once inside, the subject(s) took jewelry, two rifles, and a hand gun. The victim stated entry was also made into a storage building on the property and a travel trailer. The subject(s) took shop tools from the building. Officers processed the crime scene and located physical evidence at the scene. Detectives were summoned to assist in the investigation. Additional leads were gathered and the case remains under investigation.

Burglary
Officers were dispatched to the sub-100 block of South Kessing Street regarding a burglary. Officers contacted the victim who stated subject(s) forced entry into her residence. Entry was made through a bedroom window. Once inside, the subject(s) took a television, a HP mini-laptop, purses, cowboy hats, jewelry and credit cards.

Auto Theft
Officers were dispatched to a residence in the 1400 block of West Morton Avenue regarding a stolen vehicle. Officers contacted the victim who stated subject(s) made entry into her unlocked green 1997 Chevy Astro Van. The victim stated the keys were left in the ignition.

Domestic Battery
Officers responded to Sierra View District Hospital regarding a victim of domestic violence being treated in the Emergency Department. The victim reported she was in an argument with her boyfriend, Christopher Carothers, 35, when he pushed her causing minor injury. The victim was treated and released from the hospital. The incident occurred at their residence. Carothers was contacted and arrested without incident. He was later booked at the substation.

Possession of Methamphetamine for Sale / Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
Officers responded to the area of Morton Avenue and D Street regarding a suspicious male. When officers arrived, they contacted the subject who was identified as David Gamboa. A subsequent search of Gamboa revealed he was in possession of methamphetamine packaged for sales and drug paraphernalia. Gamboa was arrested without incident and later booked into the Tulare County Jail.
