VISALIA — Authorities on Tuesday released the name of a 26-year-old Earlimart man who died early Monday near Earlimart when the car he was driving crashed into a house.
Edgar Rubio, who authorities suspect was driving while intoxicated, was traveling at an undetermined high rate of speed in a 2002 Ford when the crash occurred at 6:15 a.m., the California Highway Patrol reports.
Rubio was heading south on State Street north of Kern Avenue when he made an unsafe turn, which caused him to lose control of his vehicle, CHP reports. The Ford hit a house at 794 S. State St., flipped and then hit a tree in the yard, CHP reports.
Rubio, who reportedly was not wearing a seat belt, was thrown from the vehicle and died as a result of his injuries, CHP reports.
