Crime Blotter 11/17/12
Information below is provided to The Recorder by the Porterville Police Department. It is noted that only arrests are reported and the suspects have not been found guilty of any crime.
Saturday, Nov. 17
Auto Theft
Officers responded to Galaxy 9 regarding a stolen vehicle report. The victim reported that while inside the movie theater between 12:30-3:15 a.m. suspect stole her white 2002 Chevrolet from the north parking lot. The vehicle was reported to be locked and all keys were accounted for.
Auto Theft
Officers responded to 93 East Date Avenue regarding a stolen vehicle report. The victim reported that sometime between yesterday a suspect stole his green 1997 Nissan SX 200 while it was parked in the east parking lot.
Warrant Arrest
Officers responded to the 200 block of North Newcomb Street regarding an unwanted subject, Denise Medrano, 20, who also had warrants for her arrest. Officers arrived and Medrano was arrested for her warrants.
Burglary
Officers responded to 333 North Indiana Street regarding a burglary to a locked laundry room. Officers discovered that the suspects forced open a locked door to the laundry room and caused damage to the coin-operated dryer.
Vehicle Pursuit, Resist Arrest, Assault with Injury on a Peace Officer, DUI
Officers attempted to initiate a traffic stop on a Nissan Altima which ran a red light at Newcomb Street at Henderson Avenue. The vehicle made a U-turn and failed to yield. The vehicle continued southbound on Newcomb Street and a pursuit was initiated. Officers successfully deployed the spike strip on the vehicle; however, the pursuit continued through residential areas where the suspect vehicle ran through several stop signs. The suspect eventually stopped on north Lotas without placing the vehicle in park. The vehicle struck the front bumper of an officer’s patrol car. The driver, Orlando Facio, 24, fled from the vehicle. An officer attempted to apprehend Facio by grabbing him from behind. Facio swung back with his left elbow and struck the officer over the left eye causing a laceration. Facio was apprehended after he ran into a chain link fence and was subsequently taken into custody after a struggle with PPD officers and TCSO Deputies who arrived to assist. A female passenger was located in the vehicle and was later determined to be a victim of domestic violence as Facio had struck her in the face. Facio was transported to SVDH and was medically cleared and booked at TCSO Main Jail. The officer was treated at SVDH and received stitches above the left eye as a result of her injury.
Public Intoxication / Threats to a Peace Officer
Jeffery Young was arrested for public intoxication. Jeffrey had been involved in a verbal argument with his girlfriend and had been making threats. Jeffrey began making threats that he was going to assault the officer when he was released from jail.
Robbery Warrant Arrest
Officers contacted a felony juvenile warrant suspect walking in the 800 block of West Olive Avenue. The suspect provided a false identity, but his true identity was discovered and he was arrested on the warrant charges. He was booked at Juvenile Detention Facility.
