THE PORTERVILLE RECORDER

EARLIMART—One man has died in a vehicle crash on northbound Highway 99, north of Avenue 24.

At about 4 a.m., a Ford F-150 pickup reportedly drove off the freeway, went through a barb-wire fence, flipped over several times and ended up in a ditch that was not visible from the freeway.

There were three people in the vehicle.

Sometime after the accident, an adult female extricated herself from the vehicle and walked in freezing temperatures to the 4-Star Cold Storage facility where she found a phone and reported the accident. She had minor injuries, authorities report.

Emergency response personnel arrived at about 6:15 a.m. The other victims were still trapped inside the vehicle.

One man was dead.

The other man had major injuries and was taken to Delano Medical Center by ambulance.
