THE PORTERVILLE RECORDER

The 17-year-old male driver of a stolen vehicle was arrested at 11 p.m. Saturday after a short chase, the Porterville Police Dept. reported.

Shortly after the vehicle was reported stolen, it was located traveling west in the area of Olive Avenue and Prospect Street with several occupants in the vehicle. The vehicle theft reportedly occurred on the 200 block of West Orange Avenue. According to the PPD report, the driver attempted to evade the officer in a nearby neighborhood and turned into a dead-end street in the 1100 block of West Forrest Avenue.

The driver and occupants fled on foot, but the driver was apprehended after a short foot pursuit and taken into custody without injury; however, the passengers were still outstanding at the time of the report.

The juvenile was booked at the Tulare County Juvenile Detention Facility on suspicion of possession of a stolen vehicle and resisting or evading a police officer. The vehicle was returned to its owner.
