recorder@portervillerecorder.com

Informational meetings about the University Preparatory High School on the College of the Sequoias campus will be held for three additional nights — Jan. 24, Feb. 21 and Feb. 28.

All of the meetings are slated for 6 p.m. in the COS Sequoia Building, Room 1.

Parents of students who are interested in obtaining more information about it should plan to attend one of the meetings.

Administrators will be on hand to answer questions about the school which will accept students for the Spring and Fall 2013 semesters.

UPHS was created by the Tulare County Office of Education – in partnership with the College of the Sequoias – as a high-performance, free, public high school.

UPHS welcomes all highly-motivated students looking for an accelerated and rigorous academic program, including students who may be the first in their family to attend college.

The students will experience their high school years on the COS campus, participate in college classes and earn college credits.

The approach, known as an “early college high school,” is a time-tested method proven to increase academic success and college readiness.

Parents planning to attend a UPHS Information Night should call the school office at 730-2529 to learn about parking accommodations.

Or, for additional information, call principal John Kelly at 730-2529.
