Crime Blotter 10/08/12

Information below is provided to The Recorder by the Porterville Police Department. It is noted that only arrests are reported and the suspects have not been found guilty of any crime.

Attempt Burglary
Officers responded to the 1700 block of West Kanai Avenue regarding a possible burglary. The reporting party stated that a stool was outside of the residence placed under a window and the screen to the window was cut. The reporting party stated no entry had been made.

Hit-and-Run Traffic Collision (No Injury)
Officers responded to Olive Avenue and Jaye Street for a non-injury hit-and-run traffic collision. The victim was sideswiped on eastbound Olive Avenue west of Jaye Street. The suspect vehicle description was a green sedan, possibly a Pontiac Grand Prix.

General Investigations Unit
Detectives continued investigation on the case of the subject who had been assaulted and shot on West Tomah Avenue. Suspects are beginning to be identified and the investigation is ongoing.

Injury Collision
Officers responded to Sierra View District Hospital regarding an injury traffic collision that occurred at Granite Hills High School. A 16-year-old male was contacted and stated that at approximately 5:30 p.m. he was in the south parking lot of GHHS when he tried to catch a ride with a friend. He leaned in the passenger window to speak to the driver when she suddenly accelerated, dragging him 15-20 feet before he fell and broke his hand. The 17-year-old driver was contacted and admitted to the incident. The case is under further review by the Porterville Police Traffic Unit.

Possession of a Controlled Substance/Under Influence of Controlled Substance
Officers stopped a bicyclist who was identified as Donald Hunt, 31. Hunt was found to be under the influence of a controlled substance and upon arrest he was found to be in possession of methamphetamine. Hunt was booked at the substation.
