5.2 miles of Highway 190 to be reduced to one-lane traffic
The Department of Transportation announced that 5.2 miles of State Route 190 east of Porterville will be reduced to one-way traffic from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 8 to Friday, Oct. 12 weather permitting.
The closure, which is due to shoulder reconstruction, will affect traffic from just east of Road 284 to Pleasant Oak Drive near Success Lake. Construction crews will be conducting one way traffic during this time with the use of a pilot car and flagging personnel through the work zone.
CalTrans would like to remind commuters to obey all staff and to pay attention to all construction vehicles and staff. Motorists who are delayed at driveways and intersections will be required to wait for the pilot car and must adhere to all signage in order to safely proceed through the work zone. Delay times for drivers can last up to 15 minutes.
Drivers are encouraged to avoid the area during work hours and if possible use alternate routes. The closures may last longer due to weather or uncontrollable events that may happen during road construction procedures.
