Free Thanksgiving Dinner today at Helping Hands
Other organizations asking for non-perishable food items
A free Thanksgiving Dinner, with all the trimmings, will be offered from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. today at Helping Hands, 135 E. Olive Ave.
“We’re expecting huge lines,” said Mike Chambers, president of Helping Hands. “With PAMA — Porterville Area Ministerial Association — not having their Thanksgiving meal, many people will be coming over here. We’re cooking a lot of extra food but I’m just hoping we don’t run out.”
In the meantime, since they continue to feed people daily, Helping Hands is accepting donations of money and non-perishable food items.
Holidays are always difficult for the less fortunate and area organizations need all the help they can get to help make the holidays a little brighter for the less fortunate, organizers said.
