Chance of showers through Sunday

Porterville will get another shot at some precipitation beginning tonight through Sunday, but don’t expect a lot of rain.

David Spector, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service, said there is a 30% chance of rain tonight and 40% Friday, with only a slight chance of showers Saturday and Sunday.

“We’re going to definitely see more clouds tomorrow,” he said of today. “There’s going to be a chance of showers through Sunday.”

However, the Central Valley will not see a lot of rain. That heavy rain is forecast for far northern California and the Pacific Northwest. Those areas can expect heavy rain into Thanksgiving, with heavy snow forecast for the mountains.

After Sunday, Spector said the Porterville area will see slightly cloudy skies and temperatures a little above normal. Normal high temperatures are in the low-60s. Nighttime lows are expected to be in the 40s.

“There will be no fog or frost through Thanksgiving,” he said.

Rainfall this season has been sparse with less than half of an inch measured so far.
