Teen accused of stealing beer
A 16-year-old Porterville boy was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly tried to steal a beer from a local supermarket, trampling a woman employee as he tried to flee.
The incident happened at 6:27 p.m. at Save Mart on West Olive Avenue. The Porterville Police Department reports officers responded to the supermarket regarding a teen who was detained for shoplifting.
Police say store employees reported the 16-year-old entered the store, took a bottle of beer, and tried to leave without paying. When a woman employee tried to stop him, the teen reportedly pushed her down and tried to flee. Other employees were able to detain the teen until police arrived.
The woman was no injured and the teen was later booked into the Tulare County Juvenile Detention Facility on suspicion of burglary and robbery.
