Crime Blotter 12/02/12
Information below is provided to The Recorder by the Porterville Police Department. It is noted that only arrests are reported and the suspects have not been found guilty of any crime.

Vehicle Burglary
Officers responded to a residence in the 2100 block of West Westfield Avenue regarding a vehicle burglary. The victim reported that suspects shattered her driver’s side window to gain entry into her 1996 Dodge Ram truck. The suspect(s) stole the faceplate of her Panasonic CD player. Physical evidence was located at the scene.
Located Stolen Vehicle
Officers responded to Home Depot regarding a recovered stolen vehicle. The blue and white 1991 Ford was located in the parking lot. Officers processed the vehicle for physical evidence. The vehicle was towed from the scene and the registered owner was contacted and informed.
Gang Graffiti
Officers responded to Walnut Avenue and F Street regarding gang graffiti on fences and different parts of the alleyways in the area.
Warrant Arrest
Officers responded to the sub-100 block of South B Street regarding a warrant service. Officers located Wayne Ray James, 65, who had an active felony warrant for his arrest. James was subsequently booked at the TCSO Porterville Substation.
Warrant Arrest
Officers contacted Melissa Tursi, 28, at Putnam Avenue and Newcomb Street. Tursi had two warrants for her arrest, and she was arrested and later cited to appear in court.
Warrant Arrest
Officers contacted Fernandez Cortez, 21, at a residence in the 1500 block of West Pioneer Avenue regarding a warrant for his arrest. The warrant was served at that time and he was cited and released at the scene on a signed promise to appear.
Burglary
Officers responded to the 1900 block of West Heritage Court regarding a vehicle burglary report. The victim stated that suspect(s) shattered his driver side window and stole a purse, an iPhone, and a Toshiba laptop computer.
Petty Theft
Officers responded to E Street and Orange Avenue regarding a theft report. The victim reported that suspect(s) entered his unlocked Honda Civic and took a purse that was inside. The incident occurred between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.
DUI / Public Intoxication
Officers contacted Paul Duran, 33, and passenger Jose Espinosa, 31, during a traffic stop at Olive Avenue and Kessing Street. Duran was wanted for questioning regarding a TCSO case. TCSO responded to the scene and questioned Duran and his passengers. Duran was ultimately taken into custody for DUI and Espinosa was arrested for public intoxication. Both were transported to TCSO Porterville Substation where they were booked. An additional passenger was released at the scene.
