Under the Influence of a Controlled Substance
Officers responded to the 100 block of east Olive Avenue regarding suspicious subjects possibly under the influence of drugs. Officers contacted John Chavez, 20 and Cheyenne Sanchez, 19 and it was determined that Sanchez was under the influence of a controlled substance. She was cited on a promise to appear.
Officers stopped a vehicle at Harrison Avenue and E Street and contacted the driver, Louie Cruz, 18. Cruz had felony and misdemeanor warrants for drug offenses and was arrested. He was booked at the substation.
Battery / Public Intoxication
Officers were dispatched to the 100 block of North Cottage Street regarding a female heard screaming in the area and subjects fighting. Several neighbors called 9-1-1 reporting the incident and stated the subjects were leaving the area. When officers arrived, they observed a male and female flee on foot and another male who was bleeding profusely from a laceration to his left arm. The victim who was bleeding was identified and the female, detained a short distance away, was identified as well. Both subjects were extremely intoxicated and admitted to being involved in a mutual fight. The second male who fled was identified as Justin Weeks, 18, and efforts to locate him were unsuccessful. The investigation revealed that the victim’s injury occurred when he and Weeks were in a mutual fight and rolled onto a large piece of broken glass. The victim was transported via ambulance to Sierra View District Hospital and the female was transported home and released to her mother. The crime scene was processed and officers will continue investigation into the case. Weeks is being sought by police for his statement.
