Crime blotter 2/25/13
Information below is provided to The Recorder by the Porterville Police Department. It is noted that only arrests are reported and the suspects have not been found guilty of any crime.
Monday, Feb. 25
Embezzlement Arrest
Officers contacted Omar Rodriguez at the police department. Rodriguez was wanted for embezzling over $5,000 from Walmart this year. He was arrested and booked into the Tulare County Main Jail.
Burglary
Officers were dispatched to the 1900 block of West Fairhaven Avenue regarding a burglary. The victim stated subject(s) made entry into her residence. Once inside, the subject(s) took a 55 inch Sony flat screen television. The subject(s) also rummaged through jewelry but did not take anything.
Under the Influence of a Controlled
Substance
Officers received a call for service to check the welfare of a female who was at Fire Station 1. Officers arrived on scene and contacted Jojeana Lapere, 43. During the contact, officers determined Lapere was under the influence of a controlled substance, and she was arrested. Lapere was later cited and released from PPD.
Auto Theft
Officers contacted a victim at PPD regarding a stolen vehicle report. The victim reported subject(s) took her red 2013 Jeep Compass, which was parked on the street in the under-100 block of East Date Avenue.
Burglary
Officers were dispatched to the 1200 block of West Tomah Avenue regarding a burglary. The victim stated subject(s) made entry into his residence. Once inside, the subject(s) forced entry into the locked bedroom and stole a 42 inch RCA flat screen television. Witnesses were contacted and a suspect description was obtained. The case remains under investigation.
